Economics

Intent:

It is the vision and aim for the Business and Economics Departments to provide opportunities to develop commercial minded and enterprising individuals.

Business and Economics should enable students to:

  • Understand what makes a successful entrepreneur.
  • Develop an awareness of their enterprise capabilities so that they are able to consider owning their own business as an alternative career path. They should also be equipped with the employability skills needed for the changing world of work and entrepreneurship.
  • Develop knowledge and understanding of business and economic concepts and terms.
  • Understand business theory and calculations in the context of business planning and successful financial management.
  • Consider the health, social, moral and ethical issues surrounding business decisions and the impact that businesses can have on a wide range of stakeholders.

Key Stage 5 Economics

The Economics A Level aims to develop students’ understanding of economic theories and principles in order to be equipped and confident to analyse how the local / national / global economy works and affect everyday life. Through analysing economic issues, problems and institutions that affect everyday life. The Economics curriculum aims for students to be enquiring, think critically and take a thoughtful approach to the study of economics whilst developing an ability to think as an economist.
